Business Auto Insurance
Coverage for the insured for the operation of a motor vehicle owned, rented hired or used on behalf of the named insured or its employees or agents. Coverage for property Damage and Bodily injury to a third party (liability) coverage for medical expenses/wages for the operator (PIP) coverage for physical damage to the owned/rented vehicle (comprehensive & collision) as well as coverage for deficiencies in coverage for other vehicles benefitting the operator (uninsured/underinsured motorist)
General Liability
General Liability insurance provides a safety net for your business, and is typically required when dealing with other businesses, landlords, customers, and more. This coverage protects you from a lawsuit in case someone were to get hurt on your business operating grounds, in the event that your presence damaged someone else’s property, if you or your business accuses you of causing harm via advertising, etc. General Liability coverage will also pay the attorney fees and other costs associated with defence of a lawsuit. Things such as wrongful termination, sexual harassment, breach of contract are NOT covered under a General Liability policy.
Professional Liability Coverage / Errors & Omissions
Professional Liability coverage is typically excluded from General Liability policies. Professional Liability coverage is necessary to adequately cover gaps in your exposures if your business holds itself as having greater than average expertise in a particular area. For example, an accountant, insurance agent, or bookkeeper.
Directors & Officers
Directors & Officers Liability insurance provides protection for those responsible for running a company, group of individuals, trusts, etc. This work means making tough decisions, and also means those decisions may be questioned at any time. D&O Liability protects a company’s leaders if they are personally sued for things such as; breach of duty, financial decisions, regulatory investigations, mismanagement, etc. This coverage would also help cover legal defense costs, settlements, and judgements. By purchasing this coverage, you are showing your clients that you are trustworthy and offer strong leadership and risk management. Employment Practices Liability
Employment Practices Liability Insurance covers businesses against claims by current, former, and future employees, that their legal rights have been violated. The number of lawsuits filed by employees against their employers is on the rise due to the current economic environment. More specifically, this coverage protects an employer from claims by current, former, and future employees that may include allegations of:

- Wrongful discipline and termination
- Negligent hiring, promotion and compensation decisions
- Breach of employment contract
- Emotional distress/mental anguish
- Invasion of privacy

Builder's Risk Insurance
This insurance covers buildings and structures during construction and renovation, before they are ready for occupancy. This coverage will be purchased by the contractor/developer or property owner, and will typically offer coverage for materials on site, in transit, and temporary structures such as fencing or scaffolding in addition to the building in progress.

RJ Carignan can also quickly provide your business with any type of bond required by contract. This could be a bid or performance bond, a dealer bond, surety bond, liquor bond, and more depending on what your business requires.
Disability Insurance
Disability insurance is purchased by employers and is required by NYS in accompaniment with Workers Compensation coverage. Disability and Paid Family Leave insurance protects the employee when they are unable to work due to injury, illness, chronic conditions, and caring for a family member.
Property Coverage
Property Insurance:
This type of insurance protects the contents of a business against theft, fire or other danger. Since every business is different and requires varied coverage amounts, it is important to know the level of insurance needed to replace or rebuild and what property to insure. The limitations of the property insurance and other terms is also needed to be understood along with the difference between replacement cost, the actual cash value, agreed amount and functional replacement cost.

Business Interruption:
This insurance can provide the funds needed to pay for lost business income and fixed expenses during the time period when a business is not operational. Although property insurance will pay to cover the replacement of damaged or destroyed buildings or equipment, it will not cover the payment of continuing expenses during the period between when the damage occurred and the property is replaced.
Business Umbrella
Excess liability coverage above the limits of a basic business liability insurance policy. Coverage in addition to primary policies such as Business Automobile, General Liability, and Employers Liability which triggers when primary limits are exhausted. Umbrella policies can also “drop down” to be primary in the absence of underlying coverage.
